The Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala 2025

officially kicked off on 5th September 2025 with the
Bankers’ Run/Walk hosted at the UBA Offices in Muyenga.

The Bankers’ Run and Sports Gala Launch

The event, held under the theme “Beyond the Finish Line,” marked the start of the Gala season and the launch of the 30-Day Fitness Challenge, where participants are tasked with walking 5,000 steps daily for 30 days to earn a medal and points for their institutions. 
 
The run began with aerobics and Zumba sessions before participants hit the 3KM, 5KM, and 7KM tracks, flagged off by the Chief Walker, Mr. Phillip Andrew Wabulya of Bank of Uganda. The evening also featured remarks from UIBFS CEO Mrs. Goretti Masadde, UBA Executive Director Mr. Wilbrod Owor, and other leaders, all emphasizing wellness, teamwork, and resilience in the financial sector. 
 
Another highlight of the launch was the unveiling of the first-ever UIBFS Sports Gala App, enabling participants to track their daily steps and follow all the games lined up throughout the season. 
 
The Bankers’ Run set the pace for what promises to be a thrilling Gala, filled with competition, camaraderie, and celebration across the industry. 

CEO Golf Challenge – Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala 2025

The CEO Golf Challenge teed off on 25th September 2025 at the Uganda Golf Club, marking the second activity of this year’s Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala
 
A total of 23 member banks and financial institutions participated, turning the green into a space for both friendly competition and industry bonding. The day was filled with energy, camaraderie, and the spirit of healthy rivalry. 
This year’s champions were Bank of Uganda, taking the overall winning title with 138 points. Equity Bank followed closely with 134 points, while NCBA Bank secured third place with 120 points
In the individual categories: 
Men’s Winner: Samuel Bulenzi (Stanbic Bank) – 42 pts 
Women’s Winner: Patience Musiime (Bank of Uganda) – 34 pts 
Other top performers included Kenneth Egesa (Bank of Uganda) and Peter Sekyanzi (Equity Bank) in the Men’s category, plus Elizabeth Wahito Gichuru (Equity Bank) and Olivia Nakuya (NCBA) in the Women’s category. 
 
The CEO Golf Challenge highlighted not only sporting excellence but also the strong networks and partnerships that define Uganda’s financial services industry. 

The Online Quiz Competition

The Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala Quiz Competition kicked off with an exciting online challenge that tested the knowledge, speed, and teamwork of banks across the industry on Saturday 27th September, 2025.
 
The Pool Stage was highly competitive, and the following teams emerged as winners: 

It was a thrilling battle of minds as banks fought for a place in the semifinals, setting the stage for even more excitement in the final rounds.
