On 15th October 2017 and 22nd October 2017 UIBFS organized the 18th Banker’s Sports Gala which attracted over 30 institutions comprised of the Central Bank (Bank of Uganda), 28 financial institutions and the Uganda Securities Exchange (USE) as a guest team.
The Annual Bankers’ Sports Gala is a grand sporting, social and networking event organized by The Uganda Institute of Banking & Financial Services (UIBFS) and brings together practitioners in the Banking and Financial Services industry across the country. The sports gala comprised a combination of indoor and outdoor sports activities – including children’s games.
The Indoor games were held on Sunday, 15th October 2017 at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium. The indoor games played were Table tennis, Badminton, Darts, Pool, Chess, Netball and Volleyball.The lugogo games were generally well attended where each participating institution fielded an average of about 40 participants and as such, a total of over 1200 participants directly participated in the games. In addition, over 800 guests / spectators, including staff and family members of the participating institutions attended the lugogo games.
The outdoor games were held on Sunday 22nd October 2017 at the Nelson Mandela Sports Complex. The games played included Football, Basketball, Athletics (100m, men and women, 200m men and women, 100mx4 men and women, 200mx4 men and women), three legged races, men and women, bottle balancing men and women, sack race men and women and Tug of war. The Namboole games were well attended were each participating institution fielded an average of about 50 participants for all the games and as such, a total of over 1500 participants directly participated in the games.
Team Cente (Centenary Bank) was the overall Winner, Runners up Team Pillar (Bank of Uganda) and Autobank (Stanbic Bank) as second runners up.
